Have you seen this movie? The first "Tomb Raider" movie has been voted on in this post one year ago. Trivia: In the previous film, Angelina Jolie had to wear bra padding in order for her bust size to measure up to the videogame character's. Jolie wears considerably less (and possibly no) padding in this film, as the decision was made to give Lara more realistic dimensions. |

So I stumble out of my apartment at 5AM with the goal of getting some coffee and getting to work on time. I'm standing in front of the elevator waiting for it to reach my floor, close my eyes briefly to take a 5 second nap, and I open my eyes when I hear the "ding!" of the elevator. The doors open I see A BODY LYING ON THE ELEVATOR FLOOR! I step one foot into the elevator and lean in just enough to see that the body of the punk-ish kid laying there with his jacket over him and his backpack under his head is actually breathing. Then the brief conversation inside my head begins. "Do I wake him up? Do I get in the elevator and go downstairs? Do I wake up the apartment manager to deal with it? Should I call the cops?" I opted to take the stairs. I didn't feel like getting into an altercation and/or getting stabbed by a junkie. I was barely awake as it was. And that's my exciting morning story. Oh, and I did get my coffee and make it to work on time in case you were wondering. |

28. Onibaba - Creepy B/W Japanese film from the sixties about two woman who murder wounded samurai and sell their armor and weapons to survive in war-torn feudal Japan. Big yes on this film although the pacing is a little weird to my westernized tastes. Two ratings: For modern horror fans 4/10 For fans of slower paced art films 9/10 29. Exorcist - I haven't watched this in years, but it still gets the job done. Watched the director's cut with 11 extra minutes, but I'm still not sure what those minutes were. 8/10 30. Return of The Living Dead - Another film I hadn't seen in years. It was campy and reeked of the 80's. Good fun. 8/10 |

I'm tired. I stayed up too late last night watching the Survivor finale. I watched long enough to find out who the winner was and I recorded the rest of the "reunion" to watch later when I get home from work. I'm not happy with who won, but that seems to be the case with every "reality" gameshow I watch. I pretty much never like the winners. Case in point - every season of Big Brother. OH - and BREAKING NEWS! On one of the Vegas message board I read, someone posted that they saw contestants and films crew from the Amazing Race running through the Venetian Grand Canal Shops last week. Sweet!! I love that show. And I saw a commercial the other day that they're bringing back THE MOLE! I liked that show a lot too. I wish they'd bring Anderson Cooper back as the host. He's dreamy. But my main point of the post is - I'm tired! I don't want to be at work. And I'm tired. And the TV is to blame. |

Trivia: Although Tarkovsky's film is fairly faithful to the book by Stanisław Lem, Lem was dissatisfied with the finished film as he said "I never really liked Tarkovsky's version".To Tarkovsky, who was an admirer of Lem's work, this showed that Lem was not understanding the nature of cinema as an art. Steven Soderbergh is quoted saying that if the audience does not enjoy the first 10 minutes of the film then they might as well leave. |

The Survivor season finale is tonight. It is followed by the Reunion show. Be prepared to watch or set those DVRs. My local CBS doesn't look to have any programming today that will run long. You might want to check yours to be safe. I set my DVR to record an hour later anyway to cover my bases. |
